Dear Rocket Families,
Because of the unexpected nature of our first snow day during this past week, we will use a virtual day to make up the lost instructional time in an effort to keep us on track before the Christmas holiday. With the support of the School Commission, the virtual day will take place from Monday, Dec. 2 through Monday, December 9. Below you will find important details about how this will work for you and your family.
• Students will do the virtual assignments outside of the regular school day (although exceptions may be made if there is free time at the end of a class.)
• Students will have assignments for core subjects they missed on the snow day.
• Teachers will respond to student or parent emails regarding virtual assignments on a daily basis and are available during the school day to answer questions.
• The computer lab will be available for students to utilize after school for one hour each day (2:30-3:30 PM).
• Assignments will be posted on the appropriate forum for your child’s particular class (Sycamore, Google Docs, Remind, etc.).
• Assignments will be consistent in length of normal assignments.
• Assignments will be consistent with classroom work at the current time.
• Attendance will be taken by students completing assignments for each class assigned. Missing work could result in a violation and will result in an unexcused absence for the day.
• Students will have one full week (Monday-Monday) to complete the assignment after the initial assignment is given.
• All assignments will be assigned the same day for consistency.
Any student with limited Internet access who cannot stay and work after school during the open lab time and cannot get to a public library during the virtual work week must inform the office immediately so an alternate plan can be devised.
Students in grades K-2 should expect:
Students in grades 3-5 should expect:
Students in grades 6-8 should expect:
We appreciate everyone’s support of this plan. If you have any concerns, please send them to Mrs. Dickel [email protected] Thank you!
Sincerely,
Andrea Dickel, Principal
