Holy Redeemer School Principal, Mrs. Andrea Dickel
Hello, Holy Redeemer Families,
My name is Andrea Dickel and I have recently accepted the position of principal of Holy Redeemer School. I am very excited about this opportunity to help the church’s largest mission, our catholic school, grow in faith and knowledge. As members of Holy Redeemer Parish, I already know many of you but I look forward to this opportunity to get to know more of you. My husband Tad and I have 4 children, three of whom currently attend Holy Redeemer School. James will be in third grade, Jacob will be in first grade, and Annie will be in Pre-K. Our youngest, Isaac, has another year before starting preschool and then he will join the ranks as well.
For the last two years, I have been working very part-time at the University of Evansville, teaching courses to preservice teachers and facilitating a STEM grant while having more time at home with our children. Prior to that, I was principal of St. Philip Catholic School in Posey County for ten years. During my time at St. Philip, I was fortunate to get to be a part of both the parish and school communities and learn the importance of the school’s connection to the parish as well as understand how vital the parish community is to the school. As they say, you can’t have one without the other! I look forward to experiencing Holy Redeemer’s parish and school connection and helping them grow together for the good of both communities. I know our school families are excited about our first day on August 6th and are looking forward to a fantastic year. I invite any parish families that have school aged children to consider joining us this coming year. If you have ever wondered if a Catholic education is right for your children or if you have always been interested but are not sure you can afford it, please call the school office at 812-422-3688 or email me at [email protected] so we can show you what we have to offer and how affordable it is for all families. We would love to see all of our Holy Redeemer church families become a part of our school.
There is not much else to know about me except that I am a longtime member of the Diocese of Evansville. I attended Good Shepherd for grades 1-8 and Memorial High School for grades 9-12. I then spent 5 years at Indiana University, one of which was spent in Madrid, Spain. I left college with a degree in Elementary Education and a degree in Spanish. My first job was as a bilingual teacher in Madison, Wisconsin. I spent 6 years in that job and during that time was fortunate to obtain my Master’s in Education Administration at the University of Wisconsin. However, I knew that “home” was where I wanted to be so I returned to Evansville in 2007 and have been very blessed with how life has unfolded here since that time. I am very excited about this next chapter in my life and hope to get to know all of you along the way!
