Fine Arts:
The Fine Arts are recognized as an important part of an education, therefore providing full-time teachers in both music and art. We also continue to place an emphasis on fine arts by equipping the classrooms with exciting ways to learn such as a pottery wheel with kiln. There is also a keyboard room for students to learn basic techniques for piano, as well as a set of Malmark handchimes. Twice a year the students have a Fine Arts Program that include a musical or play, art display, and musical performances. The Mater Dei High School Band instruction is provided for grades 5th-8th.
6th-8th Grade art classes use Scholastic Art.
6th Grade music classes use the Essential Elements and Spotlight on Music series
7th and 8th Grade music classes use Hoffman Music Academy, Essential Elements, Noteflight, and additional resources.
Did you know that 2/3 of Holy Redeemer’s 6th-8th Grade students are involved in choir or band? (2017/2018)
Every 6th grade student- (non-band) is now able to begin learning percussion, while 7th and 8th grade (non- band) students are also able to learn the basics for playing piano.

WHY CHOOSE HOLY REDEEMER'S FINE ARTS CURRICULUM FOR YOUR CHILD?
"Our children have been so blessed by their education at Holy Redeemer Catholic School. From the wonderful, compassionate teachers and staff to the foundation of faith the school is built upon, there are countless ways we have seen our kids grow and develop inside of its doors. Having taught at numerous schools before having children myself, I know one of the great assets we have at Holy Redeemer is the depth of the fine arts and physical education programs. While I hear of other schools eliminating specialty programs due to budget cuts, etc., we are so grateful to not only have these as part of the weekly curriculum, but to have teachers who love their work and present high quality instruction in art, music, and P.E. My children come home frequently with excitement about a new game they learned to play and how much fun they had in P.E. As we all desire healthy children, Mrs. Wilson’s health education instills a life-long quest for health and fitness. Every year, our music and art departments work together to create a fabulous Fine Arts Night with an art exhibit and a Christmas musical. What a joy this is for all of the families to see the creativity displayed and it always seems to make the school and families feel more connected. From the feeder school band class taught by Mrs. Goth to the after school painting lessons provided by Ms. Schorr to the spring concert and musical organized by Ms. Huggins, our children have frequent opportunities to benefit from the fine arts at Holy Redeemer. We are so grateful for our teachers who invest their time and talent into helping form the whole child into a well-rounded, dynamic individual".

"At Holy Redeemer, there are multiple opportunities for students to explore their creative potentials. The Visual Arts and Music classes are embedded in the curriculum and allow for frequent development of artistic potential that can open the heart, mind, and soul of the willing student to possibilities not present in other academic disciplines. With regards specifically to music, students will have the opportunity to be involved in an engaging Concert Band program which allows students to further develop skills, practice self-discipline, and become more intimately connected with the world of music by learning to play a musical instrument. By playing music with their peers in Concert Band, students will begin to see unknown capacities for beauty and develop a sincere connection to something beyond themselves. All in all, if a student is open to new experiences that can develop their potential as a person, Holy Redeemer will have the resources to help them explore new possibilities through the Fine Arts".

"If you are a fifth grader at Holy Redeemer and are considering joining band, I highly suggest that you take the leap and join. By joining band, you will be learning a skill that will bring you pleasure and can take long into your life. In addition, you will meet and interact with some of the greatest teachers who will teach you so much more than just how to hold an instrument. If you truly end up enjoying band, then in 7th grade you can join the Mater Dei marching band. Joining marching band will give you experience beyond your peers as you will learn what it is like to be part of a team, and you will make many good friends along the way".
